Trasiego cuisine speaks of love and devotion for local and seasonal products, but also of raw materials that do not understand borders.
Of stews and tradition but with the diversity, richness and originality provided by the elaborations and flavours of other cultures.
Careful presentations but without forgetting that the real protagonist is the taste.
From this vital philosophy, Trasiego opens a new stage: the evolution of a project.
The addition of the renowned cuisine of Javi Matinero to an emblematic and historic place where the soul of D.O. Somontano is present in every corner.
We are in a privileged territory and not only because of the raw materials it provides us for cooking… Barbastro is the capital of the Somontano region, a city with a commercial vocation that is ideal for strolling, strolling through the streets and getting to know a unique environment.
Somontano means “at the foot of the mountain” and refers to our location at the foot of the mountains of the Aragonese Pyrenees… A place with many proposals to enjoy free time: the medieval town of Alquézar, the Sierra Natural Park and Cañones de Guara, the Somontano Wine Route, the Vero River Cultural Park with its ancient rock art remains, the Torreciudad sanctuary…
A few more kilometers away, you can visit the medieval town of Aínsa, the main square of Graus, the Buddhist sanctuary of Panillo, the cathedral of Roda de Isábena, the Benasque valley…
A special place to make a stop – we are located halfway between the capitals of Huesca and Lleida or Madrid and the Baqueira Beret station – or spend a few days disconnecting in an unforgettable natural and cultural environment.
On January 27, 2012, the door of “Trasiego vino y tapas” was opened for the first time. All the illusion in the world in a small project located in a central and charming place in Barbastro that did not understand bad omens or economic crises.
It was our opportunity to see if our passion for gastronomy and wine could become our way of life, and we did! This stage far exceeded our most optimistic forecasts:
- Recommended by the Michelin Guide 2016 and 2015
- Recommended by the Repsol Guide 2016, 2015 and 2014
- TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2016, 2015 and 2014
- Javi Matinero, “Award con Mucho Gusto Most Innovative Chef” 2015
- Finalists in the National Skewers Contest of Valladolid 2014
- First Prize in the Somontano Tapas Contest – Jury and Popular Prize- 2014 and 2012
- First Second Prize in the III Provincial Tapas Contest 2013
- First Prize in the I Official Tapas Contest of Aragon 2013.
During this time, the facilities began to limit our illusions and possibilities and we decided to look for a new scenario where we could improve and evolve.
In March 2016 we closed the doors of our beloved premises to embark on “the project of our lives” -at least for the moment- and embark on a new adventure in the historic Complex of San Julián de Barbastro, capital of Somontano. An ambitious project, not exempt from difficulties, in which we have put all our enthusiasm and love…
We wait for you, with a new brand image!!
